Italian Sausage and Pepper Rigatoni

Italian Sausage Rigatoni

Five Ingredients

5 links (16 oz) mild, hot or sweet Italian sausage

16 oz dry rigatoni or pasta of choice

1 bell pepper, sliced

1 red onion, sliced

1 24 oz jar of marinara sauce

From the Pantry

1 T olive oil

 

Bring a large, salted pot of water to boil and cook pasta per package directions.

Meanwhile, add 1 T olive oil to a skillet over medium heat and add the sausages.  Brown on both sides and add the pepper and onion along with a couple T of water to create steam.  Cover and cook on medium heat for 8-10 minutes.  About halfway through, place the sausages on top of the peppers and onions so they can soften and slightly caramelize on the bottom of the pan.

Once the sausages are cooked and the veggies are soft, remove from the heat.  Slice the sausage into bite sized pieces. 

Drain the pasta and add the sauce, veggies and cut up sausages.  Stir to combine and serve immediately garnished with herbs, cheese or just own its own!
