Jalapeno Smashburger
Jalapeno Smashburger
Five in 25
Serves 4
Five Ingredients
1.5 lbs. 80/20 ground beef
4 brioche buns
Burger sauce of choice
1-2 fresh jalapenos
4 slices cheddar cheese
From the Pantry
2 T olive oil
Slice the jalapenos as thinly as possible using a knife or mandolin.
Form the beef into 8 three-ounce balls.
Add oil to a large skillet over medium high heat. Place in 2-4 balls of beef depending on the size of your skillet. Use a spatula or other implement to smash each patty very flat (should be larger than the diameter of your bun at this point).
Season with salt and pepper and place 4-6 slices of jalapeno on the top of each burger.
Once burgers are golden brown on the first side, flip over and top with cheddar cheese and allow to melt for 2-3 minutes more or until cheese is melted and jalapenos are slightly softened.
Remove burgers and repeat with additional patties as needed.
