One Pot Spaghetti and Meat Sauce
One Pot Spaghetti and Meat Sauce
Five in 25
Serves 4
Five Ingredients
1 lb ground Italian sausage (or ground beef)
24 oz marinara sauce
½ lb spaghetti noodles (uncooked)
Fresh basil (one handful or so)
Freshly grated Parmigiano Reggiano
From the Pantry
1 T olive oil
3 garlic cloves, crushed
In a large pot or skillet with high sides over medium heat, add the olive oil and ground sausage. Brown and crumble until sausage is cooked through. Drain excess fat if desired. Add the crushed garlic and stir until fragrant (about 30 seconds). Add the marinara sauce and fill the jar with water and add that to the pot as well.
Add the spaghetti noodles (break them in half if it helps them fit easier). Cover with the liquid and bring to a simmer. Cover and reduce heat to low.
After 5 minutes, stir the sauce and noodles once the noodles have softened so they can fully absorb the sauce. Re-cover and simmer for 10 minutes more or until noodles are cooked.
If sauce is still very loose, leave the lid off and simmer for a few minutes more. Sauce will tighten and thicken as it cools.
Taste and season with salt and pepper. Fold in fresh basil leaves.
Serve immediately garnished with freshly grated parmigiano and more torn basil leaves.
